Macroarrays are based on the same technique as the microarrays only they’re not as miniaturized. Whereas about 40, 000 cDNAs can be spotted on a microarray, only about a 100 can be spotted on a macroarray and the spots are larger. The cDNAs are often also not spotted on a glass plate but on a nylon membrane.
There are also protein-protein macroarrays that reflect the interactions between the protein or proteins of interest with different proteins spotted on the array.
