The Kick Off Meeting, Rennes, France, 22-24 June 2004.

The kick-off meeting for the Network of Excellence 'Marine Genomics Europe' took place in Rennes, France, from 22 to 24 June 2004. “Marine Genomics Europe” (MGE) is a crossroads between Life Sciences, Ecology, Environment, BioInformatics and High technologies within a multicultural European network. MGE is funded under the framework programme FP6 by the European commission and unites 44 institutions from 16 countries (within and outside Europe). MGE is aimed at promoting, developing, and spreading throughout the European Union a better understanding of the functioning of marine ecosystems and the biology of marine organisms. Moreover, MGE will establish databases of marine resources through large scale Biodiversity studies.
The Kick off meeting addressed the implementation of genomics approaches, and the different project nodes: microbial, algal, fish and shellfish, EDD and environmental genomics.

Innovaproteomics Platform visit

Innova Proteomics a high-throughput proteomics platform in Rennes, France.
Innova Proteomics' objective is to discover, conceptualise, characterise and validate novel anti-infective agents and diagnostic markers via proteome analysis of the human male genital system.
The company runs a fully-automated, LIMS-driven platform housed in a clean room and dedicated to high-throughput protein identification. Innova Proteomics also makes its technology available via service provision at various levels of complexity (from protein identification to full-service, large-scale proteomics programmes) and also offers training modules on proteomics theory and practice.Dr Charles Pineau, the founder of Innova Proteomics organised for us a tour
